What is a thriller?

Thriller films are known for being extremely exciting with action filled plots that leave viewers feelings of suspense, anticipation, excitement, apprehension and anxiety. Although usually thrillers emit these type of emotions the genre as a whole is tough to categorise with there being numerous sub genres.
